From 18 to 21 November 2010 For the tenth successive time, the historic Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling will play host to the Hong Kong Open. Once again, being the final counting event for players to try and break into the top 60 who will go on the following week to contest the Dubai World Championship, the field will be strong. Last year Frenchman Grégory Bourdy triumphed to conclusively prove the point above as his superb all round display – which saw him post a 19 under par total of 261 to win by two shots from Rory McIlroy – saw him move from 86th place to 47th on The Race to Dubai and, therefore, guarantee his place in the season-ending event. Bourdy’s gain was Stephen Dodd’s loss as the Welshman, who missed the cut, dropped from 59th place at the start of the week to 62nd place and out of the field for Dubai. Sharing Dodd’s pain was Darren Clarke who battled bravely to a share of 11th place but found it only good enough to move him from 63rd to 61st. Not only did Bourdy become the first Frenchman to win tournaments in three consecutive years on Tour, he also completed the triumph on the day of his mother Martine’s 57th birthday.
