The State of Bahia is a federal state of Brazil located in the north-east on the Atlantic coast. Its capital is Salvador da Bahia and is the fifth state of Brazil's population.
With its extensive coastline and its beautiful beaches, the Bahia state has known for ten years a rapid development of seaside tourism in places such as Porto Seguro, Praia do Forte, Itaparica or Trancoso.
Probably the best known asset is the capital, Salvador da Bahia, which today is among the most visited cities in Brazil. In 1985 it was classified a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Brazil is THE country where you have to celebrate carnival. Rio de Janeiro is not the only one to celebrate. You can indeed also partying in Salvador and you carried away by the rhythmic dances and many pleasures. Wearing comfortable shoes because here you will not just watch: you'll join 'blocos' (parades) and dancing!
